The Faculty of Humanities, Charles University cordially invites you to the lecture Materiality of Memory: Cultural memory and Memory Sites in the Sagas of Icelanders delivered by Pernille Hermann (University of Aarhus).

The lecture deals with memory’s material dimension, and with how memory is not merely biological and corporal, but interacts with things in the concrete physical world. Theoretically, references will be made to Assmann’s notion of cultural memory and P. Nora’s notion of sites of memory. Examples will be given from sagas of Icelanders.
Anotace : Je paměť v staroseverské literatuře hmatatelná? Odbornice v oblasti Memory Studies, prof. Pernille Hermann z Univerzity v Aarhusu, přiblíží v rámci našeho hledání propojenosti mentálních a fyzických aspektů v staroseverském myšlení materiálnost paměti v ságové literatuře.
